When the kids want a snack or I am craving something sweet I take out the blender and whip up these yummy smoothies. They're fast and easy and taste delicious. These are my favorites, but you can use any kind of fruit (fresh or frozen). I use frozen mostly because I always have it in the freezer and I don't need to add any ice. It's fun to create new concoctions, and the kids can even help add the fruits they love. Enjoy!
Lukes Favorite Smoothie
8 oz apple juice
1 frozen banana
about 1/2 c strawberries
Very Vanilla Blueberry Smoothie
8 oz Very Vanilla Soy milk
1 frozen banana
about 1/2 c frozen blueberries
1 scoop vanilla soy protein powder
2 tbsp ground flax
Chocolate Banana Smoothie
8 oz light chocolate soy milk
1 frozen banana
1 scoop of peanut butter
1 scoop chocolate soy protein powder
Vanilla banana smoothie with....spinach
8 oz Very vanilla soy milk (or plain soy milk)
about 1/2 c fresh baby spinach leaves
squirt in some agave nectar or honey (may not need as much if using very vanilla soy)
1 frozen banana
plain or vanilla (soy) yogurt to your liking
My bff made this for me one day at her house and it was SO good. My kids love it! Even though the spinach makes the smoothie green (which is kinda fun) you can't even taste it. What a great way of sneaking in thier veggies. I even add a couple tbsp of ground flax...
I LOVE FLAX...
I bought a huge bag at Sams Club, the brand is flax usa (cold milled golden flax seed)
I use it smoothies, french toast or pancakes, on top of cereal...anywhere really. It has a really good flavor and its a great source of fiber and Omega-3...and it's gluten free for anyone who has a sensitivity to gluten and/or wheat...which is myself.
